Water Management

Water quality monitoring, Lake Burley Griffin and Lake Ginninderra, December 1981 to June 1986. Volume I and II. Report by the Office of ACT Administration to the National Capital Development Commission.

The study (which used Atech Group in a subconsultancy capacity to manage the project and compile the report), was a 5 year monitoring program on Lake Burley Griffin and Lake Ginninderra, which investigated water quality, aquatic ecology, blue-green algal blooms and the role of sediments in influencing the nutrient dynamics of the lakes. As part of the study, a 1m cubed sediment-lake interaction module (SLIM) was monitored for 4-5 weeks at each of 3 locations within Lake Burley Griffin, to measure nutrient release from lake sediments into the water column.

Water quality baseline and performance monitoring. Report by ACTEW for the National Capital Development Commission.

This report (which used Atech Group in a subconsultancy capacity to manage the project and compile the report), summarised and interpreted water management information, covering several hundred sites and monitoring periods of up to 25 years.

Review of water quality data Murrumbidgee and Molonglo Rivers and Burrinjuck Reservoir. Report for ACTEW.

This report provided an interpretation of water quantity and water quality in the Murrumbidgee and Molonglo Rivers and in Burrinjuck Reservoir, particularly in terms of nutrient loads from the LMWQCC.

Baseline water quality study of Botany Bay. Report for the Federal Airports Corporation (FAC).

This project was a detailed monitoring program to provide baseline water quality information on Botany Bay, prior to the construction of the third runway at Sydney Airport. The project analysed about 30 variables at 20 sites throughout the bay, at several depths through the profile. The project also provided a comparison of field monitoring equipment to measure turbidity, temperature, dissolved oxygen, electrical conductivity, pH and salinity.

Water quality monitoring in Australia. Report and database for the Commonwealth Environment Protection Agency.

The report and database summarised wide ranging water quality and management information for the whole of Australia, on programs undertaken by:
• Commonwealth Government.
• State and Territory governments.
• Local governments.
• Universities and other research organisation.
• Private companies.
• Community organisations.
Relevant information was collected by extensive consultation with 220 organisations. This information was compiled into a purpose built survey (pro-forma), and summarised into a database called Water Quality Monitoring in Australia (WQMA).

Australian River Invertebrate Assessment Scheme (AUSRIVAS) implementation review. Report for the Land and Water Resources Research and Development Corporation.

This project involved reviewing the development of AUSRIVAS and consulting with the key stakeholders in its development, with respect to significant issues which may affect implementation of the scheme.
