Review of European Community Directive 80/778EEC for testing to Australian meat export establishments. Report for the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service.

This report provided a review of a European Community directive, aimed at improving the testing procedures at meat processing establishments in countries exporting to the European Community (now European Union).

Bacterial regrowth studies in water supplies. Research project and report for the Urban Water Research Association of Australia and Sydney Water.

This project, covering a period of 2 years, examined raw water and drinking water quality in the Sydney distribution network. It also analysed the possible reasons for the microbiological regrowth in the network.

A review of potable water quality in Australia. Report for the National Food Authority.

This report summarised potable water quality in Australia, and its implications for food processing facilities.

Proposed secondary disinfection facilities at Ingleside and Thornleigh Reservoirs. Report for the Northern Region, Sydney Water.

This report assessed water quality in relation to two proposed secondary disinfection facilities, and determined the need as well as the most suitable location for these facilities.

Warragamba Pipelines - a proposed operational sampling regime. Report for Sydney Water.

The report reviewed water quality data for the Warragamba pipelines, provided a field inspection of the pipelines during a shutdown, interpreted analytical data for the inspection, and outlined a future monitoring program in terms of chemical, microbiological and hydrological analyses.

Statistical analysis and independent audit of Sydney Water’s procedures for measuring and reporting on drinking water quality. Report for the Sydney Water Corporation.

This project provided a statistical analysis and an independent audit of the activities of Sydney Water in terms of monitoring and reporting on the NHMRC/ARMCANZ drinking water guidelines, used to supply water to 3.8 million customers.

This research project examined if it was possible to formulate and use an indexing process for the presentation of information on drinking water quality. The project focused on the formation of a practical and informative tool, which could be used in management decision making and in communicating with the public.

Aluminium in drinking water and its possible human health impacts. Report and seminar for the Sydney Water Board.

This seminar included several international experts in the fields of drinking water treatment, human health, human toxicology, and community perceptions. The aim of the seminar was to summarise the current state of knowledge on aluminium in drinking water.

Water management and health implications of Giardia and Cryptosporidium. Report for the Sydney Water Board.

This report summarised the water treatment and catchment management implications of these two mircoorganisms.

Auditing and reporting requirements of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. Report for Sydney Water.

This report provided input into and comments upon the draft Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, using a total quality management process.

Cooling tower maintenance and Legionella control. Training course by Canberra Institute of Technology, Clive Broadbent, the Atech Group, and ACT Health, to classes of about 20 attendees from various clients, over the past 10 years.

This training course teaches the principles and procedures for cost-effective cooling tower maintenance, as based on AS 3666.
